A Father's Day Reflection

A Father's Day Reflection

This Father's Day, I found myself reflecting on a conversation with my dad...

At one point, he shared something that caught me off guard.

He told me there were things he wished he had done differently while raising me.

Decisions he would change.

Moments he would handle differently.

Things he wishes he knew then that he knows now.

And honestly…

I think most parents probably feel that way.

But I told him something he wasn't expecting...
I said:

"Dad, I wouldn't change a thing."

Not because everything was perfect.

It wasn't.

Life rarely is.

But because you did the best you could with what you had at the time.

And more importantly…

every experience served a purpose in hindsight...

The hard lessons taught resilience.

The difficult moments taught perspective.

The challenges taught gratitude.

Had everything gone exactly according to plan, I may have avoided some pain.

But I also would have missed some of the lessons that shaped who I am today.

As I've gotten older—and especially now as a father myself—I've realized something:

Perfection was never the goal.

Love was.
Effort was.
Showing up was.

And sometimes we spend so much time wishing life had been different that we forget to appreciate how it made us who we are.

So today, I'm grateful.

Grateful for the sacrifices I didn't fully understand at the time.

Grateful for the lessons—both easy and hard.

And grateful for every chapter we've shared together.

Happy Father's Day, Dad.

The older I get, the more I realize:

The things I once thought were imperfections…
were often gifts in disguise.

❤️ Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there doing the best they can with what they have.

More often than not…
that's exactly what your children need.
