Dear Younger Fred… take that time away...you know what I am talking about...
as your return to work after taking some time to be with your new family...
Your calendar will fill up again.
Emails will pile in.
Deadlines will reappear.
Meetings will start to blend together.
On the surface… everything will look the same.
But something inside you won't.
Because time away has a way of rearranging your priorities.
You'll realize the world kept moving…
without your constant involvement.
Projects continued.
Decisions were made.
Problems were solved.
And strangely… everything turned out okay.
That realization will feel both humbling… and freeing.
For years, you believed everything depended on you.
That if you slowed down… things would fall apart.
But stepping away will show you something important:
Most things are not as urgent as they feel.
But the things that truly matter… are often silent.
A conversation at the dinner table.
A laugh you didn't rush past.
Moments where nobody needed anything from you… except your presence.
You'll return to work with a new awareness:
You can still care deeply…
without carrying everything.
You can still be ambitious…
without sacrificing everything.
You can still strive…
without losing yourself.
Because success isn't about doing more.
It's about understanding what actually matters.
And protecting space for it.
Work will always be there.
But certain seasons of life… won't.
You don't need to pull back your ambition.
Just bring your awareness with you.
Turns out… perspective might be the greatest promotion you'll ever receive.
Trust me Fred, take the time for yourself and your family... you will never regret it...
Baaaaam — that's it for today.
See you next Thursday.
Stay curious,
Fred
