Dear Younger Fred… remember there is no "I" in team...
You've always known this.
But every once in a while, life has a funny way of reminding you.
When Kevin left after eight years of working together, you knew he did a lot.
But apparently…
you didn't know just HOW much he did. 😂
Suddenly all those little things that just seemed to magically happen…
weren't magically happening anymore. 😅
And that's where Ellie C. comes into the story.
It's been about a month now with your new Client Service Associate, and slowly, you're starting to find your rhythm together.
Learning how each other works.
Figuring out communication.
Building trust.
And somewhere along the way, something started to happen...
she started teaching you & pushing you...
New ways of doing things.
Different processes.
Little efficiencies you hadn't considered.
And perhaps the most humbling realization…
there were areas where you had become a little complacent.
After all these years, you'll still discover there's always another way to do something.
Always something to learn.
And always someone who can teach you.
It also reminded you of something much bigger.
In every organization, there are a handful of people who get the spotlight.
But behind every one of them are dozens of people quietly making everything work.
The associates.
The assistants.
The operations teams.
The administrators.
The people answering the calls, fixing the problems, processing the paperwork and catching the things the rest of us miss.
Take away any one of them…
and suddenly you realize just how important they were.
Younger Fred…
business will always be busy.
There will always be another email.
Another meeting.
Another client who needs your attention.
But never become so busy that you forget to thank the people who make it possible for you to do what you do.
We all know we should appreciate people.
The harder part is actually making the time to show it.
So say thank you!
Give credit!
Ask how they're doing!
Learn from them.
And above all…
be kind. ❤️
Because you never really know what a few words of appreciation might mean to someone.
And you might be surprised by how much they end up teaching you too.
Kevin reminded you how valuable a great teammate can become.
Ellie is reminding you that a new teammate can help you grow all over again. So Thankyou Ellie!
Never stop learning from the people beside you.
Because nobody builds anything meaningful alone.
