You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone

You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone

Dear Younger Fred… you were never meant to do this alone…

Early in your career, you'll believe responsibility means carrying everything yourself.

Every decision.
Every client concern.
Every outcome.

You'll quietly tell yourself:

"If I don't handle this… no one will."

So you'll carry more than you should.

Pressure.
Expectations.
Even problems that aren't fully yours.

Because you care.

Because you want to do well.

Because you don't want to let anyone down.

But over time… that weight starts to feel heavy.

Heavier than it needs to be.

And life will slowly show you something important:

The best professionals don't carry everything alone.

They build relationships.

They ask for perspective.

They lean on others.

Not because they're weak…

but because they understand something powerful:

Strength grows faster when it's shared.

You'll see this at work.

And you'll see this at home.

Because the moments that feel overwhelming often become manageable…

the moment someone says:

"I'm here for you..."

Younger Fred…

independence builds confidence.

But connection builds resilience.

And resilience is what sustains you long term.

Baaaaam — that's it for today.
See you next Thursday.

P.s. thank you all for sharing the most valuable thing we all have to give… the gift of your time! Vaibhav Sood, CFA, CFP® Tonia Rossi, CFP® Stephanie Castle Roop Birdi … next time Sandra Liu thank you for bringing us together🙏

Stay curious,
Fred
